lyrics for a song titled-"IT'S EASY TO MAKE ENEMIES"/(c)31.07.02/R. Thyer

Verse1. Got out of bed with a smile.
My Shiela kissed me,
that put the smile on my dial
and I'm gonna keep it for a while.

Verse2. Don't need more enemies,
I got plenty of those now.
Want folks to be friendly
but I just don't know how.

chorus: It's easy to make enemies,
just get out of bed, you'll see.
Go down town and put on
a smile.
Folks will quickly hate the
smile on your dial.

Bridge: I am feeling happy,
I am feeling great.
No matter what folk do,
I'm gonna be friendly.

Verse3. Walking down main street,
strangers glare at me.
I treat them with my smile
and they are rude to me.

Verse4. Shielas respond EAGERLY!
Their fellas glare menancingly.
This shouldn't be, I'm just
being friendly.
Chorus: It's easy to make enemies,
just get out of bed,You'll see.
Go down town and put on a smile,
Folks will quickly hate the
smile on your dial.

Verse5. A sheila's coming along,
she sees my smile and slaps
me across my dial.
This is no good, guess I'll
go back to where I belong.
Tag: It's easy making enemies but friends
are HARD to find...
....................
I have added to and changed bits here and there with the help of your great advice. I hope no one will be disappointed.I hope you like my song now. please tell me true if you do. best wishes, Ray in Australia.

Ray,
You deserve my honest and humble opinion, right? Well... keep smiling bro, 'cause it ain't all that bad, really! [Linked Image]

Yup, you're getting very "warm". I think if you give just a little more explaination as to why some folks hate such a "happy go lucky" feller, you'ld have yourself a real winner here!

Suggestion: Maybe you could do that in the bridge. I could come up with some cool and very thought provoking ideas, but this time I'll let you sweat out the details. I know you'll have more fun that way.

You keep on getting better and if you stick with it, you'll soon be dangerous! [Linked Image]

Great job bro, keep going and
never give up, ok?

Michael

P.S. Just an idea:
Maybe...
"It's TOO Easy To Make Enemies" (??)

Not perfect but... PERFECTLY forgiven!

Hi Ray!
Hope all is well down under!

Man, you are so right! Take it from the Enemy King! Ha! I've made one or two along the way; that's for sure!

Ray, you're asking for honesty so I'll tell you; this needs more work. You start out fairly well. But, your story keeps repeating itself. I've learned not to use any words in my verses/bridges that I use in my chorus. hook words/main rhymers that is. You steal the thunder from your chorus by doing so imo.

Also, I find it hard to believe that a person can make enemies by smiling. Just the opposite in my book. So, I see a need to reconsider that idea as well. And, in reality it may even be easier to write too.

man i WOKE UP this MORN ing
and COULD n't be LIEVE my EYES
LAY ing THERE and STAR ing
was a GIRL TRI ple SIZE
she HUGGED me and she KISSED me
SQUEEZ ing me TIGHT
THEN she LEFT me HANG ing
PUT a FROWN be tween my EYES

Just for fun Ray.
Use or abuse my friend!
I hope it will spark an idea for you.

Pretty good Ray!
Love to here a bit more of the whys?
You've got a good start keep at it and you'll make her shine.

I don't understand
Why it is
Folks can't stand
To see smile
On this man's dial

HI Ray, G'mornin' Amigo!

Good Start here...

I was Scrollin' DOWN today Critiquin' Away, so saw Jimmy Ruddy's Version FIRST on this Topic..(Where he WAS Nice Enuf to give ya Credit for Inspiring HIS Version.)

SEE How Jimmy set up his STORYLINE? You've BOTH Dealt with the SAME Angle...

Jim's put a lot more MEAT on the Story's Bones... THIS you wanna DO so it's a More Interesting Story being told. Think ya overused that "Smile on my Dial" cute line, too..(UNLESS ya wanna make it your HOOK...& stick it in The CHORUS...)

LIKE your Current Hook a Lot, tho...and IT's EASY MAKIN' ENEMIES is indeed a Great ANGLE...(Could write a DOZEN Different Songs from this Hook, alone, Buddy!)

It's Easy Makin' Enemies
Wrong Finger In The Air
Easy Makin' Enemies
Can Make them ANYWHERE
Wink One Wrong Eye
Smile One Wrong Smile
At The Wrong PLACE Or TIME
It's Easy Makin' Enemies
But Friends are HARD to Find!

It's Easy Makin' Enemies
Drop just One Wrong Name
Easy Makin' Enemies
& So HARD Sheddin' Blame
Just One Cuss Word
One Stiffled Laugh
At The Wrong Place or Time
It's Easy Makin' Enemies
But Friends are Hard To Find....

{Take It AWAY, RAY....!} ;-)>

Good Luck with Rewrites on Your Song,
Keep or Sweep the Little "Start" I just fedya!

Big Guy-Hug,
Stan

Hi, Ray and Verell.

I saw this a few days ago and just have'nt got back. Just read Jimmy's and enjoyed reading HIS side of the story!

It's Easy to Make Enemies is a good hook. You need to set it up more. Perhaps each verse could be a snapshot picture of a person you met and smiled at.

"Got out of bed with a smile" is a strong line and should be your first line, imo.

Good luck with this.

Hi, I hope you don't mind being mentioned as the inspiration for the tune I wrote. I wasn't trying to draw out comparisons, just give respect to the song that inspired me.

(I've been in the shoes of both people, the one who smiles and still makes enemies, and the one who is a complete grouch.)

I hope you know I like the idea behind your song. It will be a very good song with a little more work.

I'd like to see V2 Don't need more 'enemies' changed to 'troubles' or 'hassles' or a suitable auzzie term for this, because I find enemies a difficult word to sing, (That could be me!) and I think it doesn't do it justice to have it in both the chorus and verse.

V1 I've tried using 'girlfriend' in songs, but it always sounds out of place. I eventually got married and stopped having to worry about it. Of course there is BNL 'Alternative Girlfriend', but hey, those guys are genius's anyways... but I don't know if it works here.... maybe it is OK, but I avoid that word like the plague.

Thanks for the song!
Jimmy

G'day Ronald, Trudi, Tampastan, Vondelle, Jimmy Ruddy. WOW! WOW! I AM OVERWHELMED BY YOUR ENTHUSIASTIC RESPONSES and
your 'POWERFUL MESSAGE"!. I wrote this song as an 'Aussie Ditty' and honestly, I worried about 'beautiful girl friend' i put in V1, Line 3.
So now I am gonna do two things. First, I'm gonna change 'my beautiful girlfriend' to 'My bonzer Shiela' and secondly, I'm gonna meditate on your powerful message/s about my song. I reckon/hope I can improve it with your great, generous advices and lastly a special thank you to Jimmy Ruddy- 'Thanks Mate for your kind words. I must be improving if you used my song as your inspiration for your song and I like your song too'.
Thanks a lot everyone. best wishes, Ray in Australia.

Thanks in advance for your great help. best wishes, Ray in Australia.
